Out and about

The Norfolk coastline is simply stunning. It's incredibly peaceful here. An area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the famous Hunstanton striped cliffs mark the beginning of miles and miles of wide sandy beaches, dunes, pine forests and some of the best nature reserves in the country (including Titchwell, Snettisham and Cley). It's easy to see why artists and writers have flocked to the Norfolk coast for years.

Slow down to a gentler pace of life, Norfolk is a place to do as much or as little as you like. Stroll along the coastal paths and enjoy the vast Norfolk skyscapes, marvel at the skills of the wind surfers and kite surfers. Or even have a go yourself! Take a boat trip to Blakeney to see the seals sunning themselves on the sand banks, what a great sight!

Explore the pretty coastal villages; Burnham Market and Holt have intriguing shops and galleries. Discover a little of Norfolk’s history, choose from the many stately homes in the local area; the most famous of which is Sandringham, the Queen’s country retreat with its 60 acre garden. Alternatively, Houghton Hall (built by our first prime minster), Holkham, or Oxburgh are all worth a visit. Learn about Nelson’s birthplace, or visit the Shrine atWalsingham. Not forgetting a visit to Norfolk Lavender, opened in 1932, it is the largest Lavender-growing and distilling operation in Britain. Walk through their national collection of over 50 Lavenders, before enjoying a Lavender scone in their café!

Whether it’s the leisurely pace, fresh air or lots of fun things to do, many of our visitors return year after year, choosing Norfolk as their favourite spot to spend a few days, unwind and recharge their batteries!
